Alaska is the bear country and one of the few places in the world, where all three species of North American bears live, grizzlies, brown bears and polar bears.
An estimated 100,000 brown bears inhabit Alaska.
Brown bears typically live along the southern coastal areas of Alaska and along waterways, where they have access to the seasonally abundant of spawning salmon and a rich array of vegetation they can use as food.
The Katmai National Park and Preserve is one of the premier brown bear viewing areas in the world. It is estimated that about 2,200 brown bears are to inhabit the park.
