The red primrose, Primula acaulis 'Danova Red' (syn. Primula vulgaris) features large (1.5-2? wide) dark red bloossoms with a sharply contrasting bright yellow eye which like jewels are glinting and glowing as the sun goes down. Primula acaulis are common winter plants (usually available from December till March), although they can also be grown as houseplants in a cool room.
