Easter Eggs in Sorbian Style Описание:
Easter eggs, adorned in traditional 'Sorbian style' at the annual Sorbian Easter Egg Market in Bautzen, eastern Germany, which is taking place always five weeks before Easter. The painting of Easter eggs, called Pisanici, is Slavic tradition since 17th century maintained by Sorbs, living as minority in Lusatia, a region on the territory of Germany and Poland.
Many Slavic ethnic groups, including the Belarusians, Bulgarians, Croats, Czechs, Poles, Serbs, Slovaks, Slovenes, Sorbs and Ukrainians decorate Easter eggs by writing. The pattern is applied to the shell of an egg by help of hot wax, similarly to batik, and placed in a series of dye baths. The colors and pattern are revealed when the wax is melted.
