With its unique colored domes in shape of 'onion', the St. Basil's Cathedral is recognized as the most impressive building in Russia.
The first main Christmas tree 'Kremlevskaya Elka' in Russia, is lit up in 1954 and the Kremlin palace has become the place for celebrating the New Year. From 1700 by decree of the first Russian Emperor Peter I, New Year is celebrated in Russia as in the other European countries on 1-st January, according to the Julian calendar.
