Sophie Anderson was a major figure in the colony of artists at Capri, together with John Singer Sargent , Frank Hyde and others. Capri is an island, located in the Tyrrhenian Sea in the Campania region, Italy, a resort since the time of the Roman Republic, a popular resort for European artists, writers and other celebrities in the latter half of the 19th century.
